Tailgate flat white (sort of)
- Serves
- 1
- Time
- 6 min
- Made
- The tailgate, somewhere past the last petrol station

Ingredients
- 15g coffee, ground a bit finer than you think
- 100ml water just off the boil
- 120ml whole milk
- A jar with a lid
Kit
- AeroPress Go (AeroPress)
- Chestnut C3 grinder (Timemore)
- Classic Vacuum Bottle, 1.1 qt (Stanley)
Steps
- Grind the coffee. Takes about a minute with the C3, so do it while the water heats.
- AeroPress inverted, coffee in, water in, stir ten seconds, lid on. Wait one minute.
- Warm the milk in the Stanley cup over the burner until it steams, not boils.
- Milk into the jar, lid on, shake hard for twenty seconds. That's your foam.
- Flip and press the coffee into your cup. Pour the milk over. Drink it fast, it's cold out.
It is not a flat white. It is the closest you get to one with a burner and a jar, and it is better than whatever the petrol station had. Made this one at about 6:40 with the sun coming up over the ridge and nobody else around.
